2022 Ram 1500 vs Chevy Silverado
Pickup drivers are a rare breed. They seek powerful engines to haul around a ton of material, but they also want all the bells and whistles like luxury interiors and the latest tech. Truck drivers are demanding, and they won’t settle for anything but the best, and two of the best out there are the 2022 Ram 1500 and the Chevy Silverado. Both of these pickups provide drivers with everything they could want and a pickup and a few things they haven’t even thought of. While we believe that either one of these trucks would make a great addition to your driveway, we do think one has a distinct advantage over the other. To find out which one comes out on top, check out our comparison below!
2022 Ram 1500 Power & Handling
Several engine options are available for the Ram 1500, and power is undoubtedly the name of the game with this massive truck. The standard engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that pumps out an astounding 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes with a spectacular eTorque system which helps improve the fuel economy and the engine’s stop and start capability. The Ram 1500 gives you the option to up the power with a 5.7-liter V8 that carries out 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque available with or without the eTorque. Then there is the diesel engine which is a diesel-powred and turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that comes with 260 horsepower and an outstanding 480 lb-ft of torque. The last engine is only available for the special edition TRX trim which comes with a pavement-pounding 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. All engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive, though a four-wheel-drive is available.
2022 Chevy Silverado Power & Handling
The Silverado tries to keep up with the Ram 1500, with a few engine options in its own right. Most trims will come standard with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. From here, the Silverado has several engine options, with the first being a 5.3-liter V8 that kicks out a solid 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque and the second a6.2-liter V8 that gets 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. There is also a diesel option for the Silverado, which tires to compete with the Ram 1500s as it’s a 3.0-liter diesel-powered V6 with 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. These engines also get an eight-speed automatic transmission, and while we like a lot of what these engines have to offer, the Ram 1500 still has more power and capability.
2022 Ram 1500 Features & Design
Now that we have covered the power of the Ram 1500 let’s check out some of the features! Even at the base trim level, the Ram 1500 is well-equipped as it comes with 18-inch wheels, a 23-gallon gas tank, active grille shutters, coil-spring suspension, and trailer-sway control. You also get standard heated and power-adjustable side mirrors. When you get to the Big Horn trim, that’s where the tech features kick in. It comes with the latest version of the Uconnect system that has four times faster speeds than the previous version and can hold three times as much memory. It also has an onboard wi-fi system and tow specific navigation. The Uconnect system comes in brilliantly on the 12-inch touchscreen. If you’re looking for more features, the Ram 1500 comes with some spectacular special editions. One of our favorites is the Limited Tenth-Anniversary Edition which has 22-inch alloy wheels, quilted leather upholstery, suede headliner, jeweled shifter knob, and a 19-speaker audio system. We should also mention that every trim level comes with a Clean Air System that will filter out 95% of all harmful particles making for one of the cleanest cabins ever!
2022 Chevy Silverado Features & Design
With the Silverado, you get some exciting features throughout its trim lineup. Some of the best features include leather seats, open-pore wood trim, a Bose premium audio system with stainless steel speaker grilles, and 12 standard tie-downs. The more advanced features are available for, the higher trims only, including power windows/door locks, cruise control, 20-in wheels, chrome bumpers, mirror caps, GM’s OnStar connected services, and semi-automatic single-zone climate control. Unfortunately, while we like a lot of these features, much of the better ones are only available on higher trims, and the Silverado lacks the special editions that the Ram 1500 has.
While the Silverado puts up a good fight, the Ram 1500 is better! The engine options are more powerful and far more exciting features for the Ram 1500. We highly recommend heading down to Martin CDJR and scheduling a test drive with our knowledgeable and friendly sales team members.
