What engines power the 2023 Dodge Hornet?
With any Dodge, the engine lineup is going to be the most important aspect of your decision-making. To make this as simple for you as possible, that is where we are starting our journey in explaining the power of the 2023 Hornet. There are two different engines that you will be able to opt for here. The first of these engines is a PHEV, or more-specifically, a turbocharged 1.3-liter all-aluminum engine, which even comes with things like MultiAir technology. This engine comes with 383 pound-feet of torque and 285 horsepower. You’ll be able to get around 184 pound-feet of torque from the 90-kW electric motor. Another important figure to take note of is the 30 miles of all-electric range that the Hornet boasts. Don’t forget about the six-speed automatic transmission! The second engine, which is actually the base entry point, is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4. Here you can get around 295 pound-feet of torque and 265 horsepower. A nine-speed automatic transmission is standard here.
What are the Dodge Hornet’s drive modes?
When you do opt for the PHEV engine with the Hornet, you get something else that’s incredibly special, too. This is a configuration that allows you to choose from three different hybrid driving modes. The first of these is Hybrid Mode, which provides the maximum combined efficiency of both the e-Motor and the engine. This helps to minimize fuel consumption, and puts the electric motor as the priority. Another mode here is Electric Mode, which only focuses on the electric motor, and will automatically switch to hybrid when the battery starts to get too low for regular driving. The final option for the Hornet PHEV is E-Save Mode. This final option is more focused on the conventional engine, and less on the battery. Whether this is to save the battery charge for a later time is all up to you.
What are some of the Hornet’s performance features?
The final way that we’re discussing the Hornet, and the way that it expresses its power, is by some important performance features. This is another way in which it will stand out from the competition. You’ll find features like Koni frequency selective damping shocks, dual-stage valve suspension, an intelligent braking system, Brembo four-piston brakes, dynamic torque vectoring, enhanced body stiffness, and a front and rear fully independent suspension. No matter where you turn, Dodge has created a CUV that really does check all of the boxes, no matter what you need.
